Some ground rules.

These are set and enforced by the niagara.social moderators.

1. Nothing here is private. mastodon+hometown is not a private platform. do not post any illegal content or talk about illegal acts. Be cautious and considerate about posting personally identifying information.
2. Don't be shitty. Don't post content that is racist, sexist, transphobic (including deliberate misgendering or use of dead/birth/rejected names), homophobic, ableist, misogynistic, fatphobic, or otherwise bigoted. This behaviour will not be tolerated on the niagara.social platform.
3. Don't be creepy. This includes acts of intimidation, displaying a pattern of inappropriate social contact (such as requesting/assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy with others or posting sexual content where it is not appropriate), or posting content to upset other users.
4. Don't harass, troll, or pick fights on niagara.social, or any other instance. This puts you, and other members of niagara.social, at risk of being targeted by other members or instances.
5. Use content warnings/CWs when posting text and images that are of a sexual or graphic (involving injury, blood, or gore) nature. When posting this type of content, please consider whether it will be a welcome, appropriate contribution to the conversation you are involved in.
6. The niagara.social team also requests you use CWs when posting spoilers, but we aren't assholes and won't ban you for spoiling the ending of a movie that came out in 2007.
7. Don't impersonate others or steal their work. This typically includes the use of so-called "AI" to generate "art" (it's theft and a waste of resources).
8. To the best of your abilities, please include descriptions of images in the body of the post or in alt text for those who use assistive technology (such as screen readers).
